Waste board readies “no segregation, no collection” program
ILOILO CITY – The city’s solid waste management board is set to implement the “no segregation, no collection” program as a vital component of the city government’s battle against garbage and compliance to the provisions of Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and mitigation scheme on climate change.
Board Resolution No. 31, Series of 2009 was passed recently by adopting, promulgating and strictly enforcing a “No Segregation, No Collection” policy in the city of Iloilo and enjoining all sectors, households and communities here to exercise proper waste segregation and reduction at source.
City mayor and board chairman Jerry P. Treñas said the innovative program will be implemented in all 180 city barangays starting October 16, 2009 after consultations with all barangay captains and Liga ng mga Barangay officials. Read more »
