Cleanliness and sanitation ordinance to be strictly enforced
THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will strictly enforce next month regulation Ordinance 149, an ordinance which prescribes the penalties for activities inimical to cleanliness and sanitation.
Ordinance 149 prohibits littering on the street, sidewalks, parks, playgrounds and other public places, urinating, defecating or spitting in public places, painting, inscribing or posting graffiti on public places or public buildings, walls, fence and similar places.
“It also prohibits vandalism of public or private property. Those who were caught will be penalized and arrested,” stressed Senior Supt. Bartolome Tobias, city director of ICPO noting that most of government and private properties such as walls, bridges, overpasses and school gates in the city are being spray-painted.
Local gangs and fraternities in this city are top offenders of vandals, according to the ICPO. There are around 20 fraternities under tight monitoring by the ICPO. Read more…
