DTI launches Semana sang Iloilo OTOP showcase
ILOILO CITY – The Department of Trade & Industry-Iloilo Office, in cooperation with the Iloilo Provincial Government and the Ilonggo Producers Association will hold a One Town One Product (OTOP) Showcase at SM City on 13-19 April 2009. This trade fair is in line with the celebration of Semana sang Iloilo.
A total of 15 Ilonggo exhibitors will participate in the trade fair that showcase specific delicacies and other products locally made but have already captured national acceptance.
Wilhelm Malones, DTI provincial director said that the OTOP Showcase aims to market and promote the local products of different municipalities and cities in Iloilo by accessing wider market area and establishing linkages with potential buyers. For local government units who have joined for the first time, this will be a good opportunity for them to introduce their OTOPs to the market.
The exhibitors with their respective products are the Genoveza Sabor Ilonggo with Kakanin; Ninfel Pasalubong Center with dried fish; Diday’s Delicacies/Pinaka MMT MPC with banana chips; Igbaras Mango Growers Association with fresh and dried mangoes; Martavilla enterprises with processed meat; Sweet’ness fine Homemade Delicacies with biscocho, butterscotch and others; PJ Delicacies with piaya, garlic and butter toasts, serafina and others; chicken Etcera/AML food Products with pies, calzone, chocolate-coated pulvoron; Tots Peanut Brittle with peant brittle, chicharon and others; Kalibo Food Haus with paborita, ugoy-ugoy, cookies and others; Panaderia de Molo with broas, galletas, holjaldres; TSKI with handwoven products, abaca bags; and Oton Woven Products with handwoven products.
Malones said this activity is expected to arouse people’s awareness on the local products and DTI is planning to hold Semana sang Iloilo OTOP showcase every year hereafter on top of all other showcases and trade fairs focusing on OTOP localproducts. (LCP)
