PGMA in Iloilo March 3
ILOILO CITY – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be in Iloilo this morning, March 3, 2009 to lead the inauguration of another TeleTech regional site in this southern city.
The President will be accompanied by Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila, Labor Secretary Marianito Roque and Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas Chua of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and will be met by TeleTech officials headed by Maulik Parekh, executive vice president for Asia.
Local officials headed by city mayor Jerry P. Trenas, Iloilo governor Niel D. Tupas, vice mayor Jed Mabilog, lone city district cong. Raul Gonzalez Jr. and Justice Secretary Raul M. Gonzalez Sr. will meet the President at the airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo and accompany her at the TeleTech site.
The Iloilo delivery center is considered as the biggest business process outsourcing facility (PBO) in the city which has more than 1,600 employees including 746 production seats spread in the 8,083 square meter area located at the 3rd floor of SM City Iloilo.
The Iloilo center includes state of the art equipment and first class amenities that currently ranks third in the list of the next wave of BPO destinations in the country.
Since the start of its Philippine operations in 2002, TeleTech has rapidly grown in size to more than 23,000 employees working out of 12 delivery centers all over Luzon and Visayas regions.
Earlier, TeleTech assured city mayor Jerry P. Trenas of its full commitment to stay in this city and provide additional workers within this year. Although its mother office based in the United States, this also makes Teletech the largest foreign employer in the Philippines today.
After the inauguration, the President will fly to Boracay Island in the Province of Aklan, northern Panay to hold a Cabinet Meeting with members of her official Cabinet in the afternoon.
